It did also highlight the fact that the loft insulation is in even worse shape than the floor panels. So it's going to need re-insulating as well, as I reckon I must have had an even bigger carbon footprint than Jeremy Clarkson this winter. A car load of stuff has already gone up the tip and I suspect a lot more will be following, going on Freecycle or ebay or wherever else we can dispose of it. I guess time will tell if all the stuff I've refused to part with over the years really is valuable/collectable or tat.
The highlight of the temporary repairs I've made for now was the largest splinter I've ever seen slicing though the bottom of my left forefinger and ending up embedded about a centimetre deep in my the palm of my hand.
Notwithstanding all that I'll be making a long overdue return to the mountains this weekend as both the Met Office and MWIS forecasts are looking good. There's even a risk of sunburn in the Brecon Beacons. Suggesting I might be able to stand on a summit without getting blown off by a gale or using an ice-axe and crampons to reach it. The only downside is that most of the honey-pot destinations will be heaving. So I'll be spending the day looking for an obscure peak or two on my bucket list that I haven't visited before.
