About Me
I was born in the shadow of St Andrews (The home of Birmingham City FC Soccer club) one fine August day in 1961 and have been a long suffering Bluenose ever since. Following the ‘Blue’s’ requires three things perseverance, a never say die attitude and a belief in the ultimate victory of the underdog, essential qualities for the indie author and their heroes and heroines perhaps?
Hooked on fantasy since first reading Lord of the Rings in my teenage school years, I soon became an avid Sci-fi fan at University and have harboured the dream of writing my own epic novel ever since. There are many unfinished projects and roughly sketched ideas littering the last four decades of my life some of which may yet see the light of day in one form or another.
It’s been said I’ve changed my job/career more times than some men have changed their underwear check out my professional (Day job) CV at LinkIn if you don’t believe me. I’ve gone from selling newspapers to nursing, and programming computers to community development and quite a bit in-between, witnessing the migration of the computer from the mainframe to the desktop and the birth of the internet along the way. You could think of it as research for that big break-out novel I’m going to write one day.
Having put my literary ambitions on hold to raise a family I was inspired to take up the fictional pen once more when my oldest daughter introduced me to National Novel Writing Month (nanowrimo). This has resulted in the publication of my first Sci-fi novel ‘Rebels’ and a short Fantasy story ‘The Lost Legend’ via Smashwords available at all good ebook retailers. You can check out my Smashwords profile here and my Smashwords interview here.
When I’m not working on my next big thing you’ll find me pursuing my other passion of walking in the mountains and National Parks of UK searching for my muse.
Best Wishes
Richard.
