Also on the writing front I'm working on a revised edition of 'Exiles' and will be uploading this to Smashwords sometime between now and the end of the year. Then I will be taking a long hard look at how I edit and proof read future projects and how I can improve the process. I'll be fitting this around the day job and some other projects I'm working on.
Talking of day jobs it never ceases to amaze me how totally dependent we are as a society on volunteers. A hidden army of people without which civilised society locally, nationally, and globally would simply cease to function. Everything from people caring for their sick and disabled neighbours to the Doctors and Nurses of MSF (Doctors Without Borders) fighting the spread of Ebola in West Africa. Plus countless thousands who day-in, day-out, work to make their local communities around the world we inhabit a better place.
Although you'd be hard pressed to realise it looking at the news headlines. Yet the truth is the biggest evolutionary advantage we have as a species is our ability to work together co-cooperatively for our mutual benefit. The complex, interconnected, technologically advanced civilisation we've built couldn't exist without it.
So we should celebrate this years Nobel Peace Prize winners, Malala Yousafzai and Kailash Satyarthi, and remember it's people like this who define us as a species. Not the terrorists and politics of hate that so often dominate the news headlines.
